Senior Citizens’ Association welcomes the abolition of pension insurance contributions for working pensioners and grandparents’ leave
Vienna (OTS) – Senior Citizens’ Association President Ingrid Korosec sees important impulses for the older generation in the “Austria Plan” presented yesterday by Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
Korosec is pleased that its long-standing demand for the complete abolition of pension insurance contributions for working pensioners will come about if Chancellor Nehammer’s “Austria plan” is followed: “If you work voluntarily alongside your pension, it should be worth it. This measure will help increase the incentive for pensioners who want to work voluntarily alongside their pension. It is another building block so that you have more net of the gross,” explains Korosec.
Korosec also welcomes the commitment to strengthening the 2nd and 3rd pillars of the pension system: “I believe that the expansion and strengthening of the 2nd and 3rd pillars on a voluntary basis has long been necessary because it puts provision on a broader basis and offers more incentive and opportunities for personal life and pension planning.”
Korosec also welcomes the planned introduction of grandparent leave on a voluntary basis. “This innovative initiative brings more flexibility and creative options to families when it comes to caring for children and gives grandparents the chance to play a more active role in the lives of their grandchildren. It is an important step in bringing the generations closer together while at the same time balancing work and family to support”, so Korosec.
“Chancellor Nehammer’s “Austria Plan” is a step towards greater participation and security for seniors in all areas of life, because senior policy is social policy“, said the senior citizens’ association president.
