  • Complete ODM production capacities in the USA, from color cosmetics to skin and sun care- this is how customs and supply chain risks are reduced
  • “Made by Kolmar”-world-class production technology localized for the US market

Kolmar Korea officially completed the construction of his second production facility in the United States, the largest cosmetic market in the world. The new work in Scott Township, Pennsylvania, is an important strategic step to strengthen the global presence of K-Beauty and at the same time to set up a “customs-proof zone” in the USA in view of the increasing shock waves in world trade.

At the celebration of the completion of the factory on July 16 (local time), Yoon Sang Hyun, Vice Chairman of the Kolmar Group, explained the long -term global ambitions of the company. “The United States is the place where the development of Kolmar began. This second factory is not only a production location, but the starting point for a new vision of cooperation and growth. We will build an innovative ecosystem with various partners from the value chain to build the largest center for the production of cosmetics in North America,” says Yoon sang Hyun.

Vice Chairman Yoon, the representative of the state of Pennsylvania, Bridget Kosierowski, representative of the state government and connected organizations took part in the celebrations. A total of around hundred people were present.

The completed system offers a total area of 17,805 ㎡ with an annual production capacity of 120 million units. Together with the first Kolmar USA factory, the company now has a US production capacity of 300 million units per year. Including its Canadian branches, Kolmar Korea has a total production capacity of 470 million units in North America-the largest among the cosmetics ODMS (original development manufacturer) on the continent.

The second location specializes in skin care and sun protection products- categories with increasing demand on the US market- and complements the color cosmetics capacities of the first system. From the US FDA, Kolmar Korea has now received an OTC license (for over-the-counter products) for the production of sunscreen, so that the company can quickly react to the growing K-Sunscreen trend in the USA.

Kolmar Korea has transferred its comprehensive “Made by Kolmar” production expertise, which was acquired in the Sejong Korean plant and is valued worldwide by more than 4,300 customers. The factory was designed in such a way that it corresponds to the high standards of Sejong and has special areas for manufacturing, filling and packaging. The integration of the latest AI-based quality monitoring and process optimization ensures minimal error rates, while 80 % of the production is fully automated. The logistics systems and the movement sequences of the workers were also modeled on the model of the system in Sejong in order to maximize efficiency and security.

According to Kolmar Korea, the second work will play an important role in the circumvention of the US tariffs to imported cosmetics and offer both Korean and global brands that want to expand on the US market.

A spokesman for Kolmar Korea explains: “For the first time, a Korean cosmetics company has built its own production facility in the United States instead of acquiring them-this is a considerable milestone. We support K-Beauty brands that are to be marketed without customs concerns in the US Expansion. “
