Liezen (OTS) – Knauf GmbH is taking another important step in its company history and is investing six million euros in Weißenbach/Liezen in a new production line for the production of pasty fillers. With this investment, the company is simultaneously strengthening its factory location in the international environment and also taking important steps towards sustainability.
Such ready-to-use fillers are developed for manual and mechanical use on various surfaces. The wide range of possible uses and outstanding results in fine filling as well as full-surface filling make the products popular with construction professionals. A central focus when planning the fourth production line was sustainability. The plant in Weißenbach/Liezen has its own photovoltaic system, which covers the entire energy requirement in single-shift operation. In addition, production rejects can be completely reintroduced into the production process, thus avoiding waste.
“For us, sustainability is not just an obligation, but an integral part of our corporate philosophy. Integrating your own photovoltaic system is a further step towards environmentally conscious production and a contribution to reducing our ecological footprint. In addition, all filler buckets are made from at least 70 percent recycled material. With the new system, Knauf has been able to reduce the delivery radii of raw materials by over 50 percent and the delivery radii by over 30 percent,” explains Mag. Ingrid Janker, Managing Director of Knauf Austria.
Knauf GmbH is proud to be implementing a pioneering project in Weißenbach/Liezen that not only strengthens competitiveness, but also makes a positive contribution to the regional economy and environment. Over half of the fillers produced in Styria are exported to neighboring countries of Austria.
“Knauf is an important regional company that is extremely successful internationally with its products produced in Styria. With the latest investment, the company is making another strong commitment to the Styrian business location and is thus securing jobs in the region. What is particularly pleasing is the strong focus on sustainability, with which Knauf also makes an important ecological contribution,” said Styrian Economic Affairs Councilor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl.
