At the end of September, the Klüber Lubrication Austria company premises on Franz-Wolfram-Scherer-Straße were transformed into a lively construction site for more greenery and biodiversity. Trucks with new plants, loads of earth and humus, excavators and many people working in the garden dominated the picture. Together with Maschinenring Salzburg, the Klüber team has transformed unused areas into a natural oasis – for employees and nature alike.
Employees pitch in: Together for a better working environment
The initiative was launched by the workforce themselves to create a place that not only promotes biodiversity, but also creates a pleasant working environment for employees. The idea for the redesign came about a year ago. The employees at the Salzburg location wanted to create something directly tangible based on their commitment to sustainability – a place that benefits nature, but also a renewal of the employee area.
Florian Held, General Manager Sales & Marketing at Klüber Lubrication Austria GmbH, explains how it was implemented: “We invested in the renovation and modernization of our office building in the spring. This means that we have created modern, ergonomic workplaces as well as modern communication and meeting rooms. Renovations were then also necessary on the terrace and in the entrance area. And so we combined these with the ideas of our colleagues.”
A day full of team spirit and enthusiasm
The Maschinenring team carried out the planning and preparatory work. Employees from management to production then worked actively over the course of a day to transform the company premises into an attractive and functional outdoor area. Trees, hedges and bushes were planted, gravel gardens were created and nesting boxes and insect hotels were built. The result: an outdoor area that not only invites you to relax outdoors, but can also be used as an open-air meeting room from spring 2025. “It was incredible to see what we achieved together in just one day – it strengthens the team spirit and shows that we can achieve great things together,” says Florian Held enthusiastically.
More than just green – an example of sustainable entrepreneurship
This project is more than just a beauty treatment for the company premises. It is a clear sign of the responsibility that Klüber Lubrication assumes towards the environment and society and an approach on how a company can contribute to Austria’s biodiversity strategy 2030+.(1)

Although Klüber Lubrication Austria has been operating in Austria for over 60 years, many people don’t know the company. In Salzburg, special lubricants for the automotive and wind industries are manufactured directly at the Franz-Wolfram-Scherer-Straße location and are used worldwide. The location also takes on important tasks in Eastern Europe. With the recent modernization of the office space and the design of the outdoor facilities, Klüber Lubrication is relying on a holistic feel-good concept – inside and out.
