The Freedom Family mourns the loss of Hans Jörg Schimanek. The first liberal regional councilor in Lower Austria died at the age of 85. FPÖ federal party chairman NAbg. Herbert Kickl: “Hans Jörg Schimanek’s motivation in all his functions was to help people. He was humble and down-to-earth and always had his ear to the people. He tried to support wherever he could. He lived close to citizens when this term was not yet socially acceptable. His sense of justice was exemplary. My condolences go out to his family and his large circle of friends in these difficult times. The Freedom Party will honor his memory.”
From 1993 to 1999, Hans Jörg Schimanek served as a regional councilor in Lower Austria, and from 1998 to 2000 he was also regional party chairman of the FPÖ Lower Austria. Even after leaving top politics, Schimanek continued to be committed to the people. With his politically independent list WIFF (We for Floridsdorf) he achieved many improvements for the population in Floridsdorf. In the National Council election in September 2024, Hans Jörg Schimanek ran in 70th place on the FPÖ federal list.
