25 talents sing and dance for five semifinal tickets on March 8th on ORF 1
Vienna (OTS) – Austria shows what it can do – clear the stage for “The Big Chance – Let’s Sing and Dance”! At the start, singer/songwriter Thorsteinn Einarsson, model and actress Barbara Meier as well as singer, dancer and “Dancing Stars” winner Missy May are at the controls – they will be sitting at the jury’s desk on Friday, March 8, 2024 on ORF 1 and commenting and rate the performances with up to three stars each. For particularly impressive performances, each jury member can directly award a ticket for the semi-final rounds with the “Heart Buzzer”. All talents who can get at least seven stars have a great chance of winning one of five semi-final places at the end of the show.
In “The Big Chance – Let’s Sing and Dance” a rotating top-class jury of three decides who will advance to the semi-final shows, where the audience then has a say in who will move on to the final. Also taking part are Josh., Katharina Straßer, Bernhard Speer, Simone, Mark Seibert, Tina Naderer, Leona König, Cesár Sampson, Sasa Schwarzjirg, Maria Angelini-Santner and Marc Pircher.
Thorsteinn Einarsson: “What began ten years ago with the song ‘Leya’ at the ‘big chance’, where I was a candidate, and is continuing these days with my new single ‘Hotel Heartache’, has become a big one part of this show. I am very pleased that I can now be a member of the jury!”
Barbara Meier: “I am very excited about all the incredible talents that I was able to experience on ‘The Big Chance’. I had goosebumps, was moved to tears and I’m sure we’ll be hearing and seeing a lot more from some of the candidates! The audience can look forward to many wonderful and moving moments!”
Missy May: “From what I saw on the first show, I have to say that it will be by far the strongest ‘Big Chance’ season! It’s unbelievable how much talent Austria has. Especially in this time when it is becoming increasingly difficult to survive in the arts, it is so important to have a high-quality platform to show that Austria is at the forefront when it comes to singing and dancing. No matter whether you are very young or in your prime, whether alone or in a team, it was an honor to see these great acts and I am sure that we will see one or the other on the biggest stages in the country! “
“The big opportunity – Let’s sing and dance” – barrier-free
Like previous ORF shows, “The Big Chance – Let’s Sing and Dance” will also be broadcast in a fully barrier-free manner on ORF 1:
ORF TELETEXT offers subtitles for deaf and hearing-impaired viewers on page 777 and all ten programs will also be available in an audio version for blind and visually impaired audiences. The emotions on the show stage can be experienced live by experienced audio commentators, even for people with visual impairments – at the first casting, Juliane Kühberger and Sebastian Aster will accompany the audience with their commentary. The task of the audio commentators is to convey everything that remains hidden from their audience through acoustic image descriptions: such as the appearance of the costumes and the choreography of the dances, gestures, facial expressions and show effects. This live audio commentary can be heard on the second audio track, which can be set via the remote control.
The accessible programs are available as video-on-demand for six months on on.ORF.at and in the ORF TVthek app.
You are perfectly equipped for the current season with the “The Big Chance” fan package, which includes, among other things, a practical “DGC” shopping bag or the “DGC” to-go drinking cup – available now online at shop.ORF.at .
