TransX warns of a “ban on hormone treatments under the age of 18”
Vienna (OTS) – In his Austria plan, Chancellor Karl Nehammer is considering a “ban on hormone treatments under the age of 18” (p. 36). Apparently he didn’t think seriously about the issue:
After the Treatment guidelines from the Ministry of Health Only completely and partially reversible hormonal interventions are possible for young people up to the age of 18. The prerequisite for this is comprehensive diagnoses, a clear decision by a multi-professional case conference and the support of the legal guardians. The assumption that children are “swayed” into hormone treatments by “hype” is absurd.
Anyone who wants to ban hormonal treatments for minors knows nothing about the suffering that children go through when their bodies develop into what they do not want to become, as they are not. Suicide often appears to be the only way out.
Karl Nehammer has never seen the hematomas that result from the tight binding of trans men’s breasts. He doesn’t know the trans girls who no longer want to speak after their voice breaks.
The “Austria Plan” wants to deny these children medically recognized and proven treatments and can plunge them into deeper suffering, isolation and depression. Should transgender people be hounded for political gain?
We ask all ÖVP officials to reject this inhumane, transphobic policy.
