JUNOS students: The ÖH is completely clueless when it comes to MedAT! | JUNOS

Vienna (OTS) Just in time for this year’s entrance test for medicine (MedAT), the Austrian Student Union (ÖH) is once again calling for the abolition of all admissions tests for medicine.

For JUNOS, this demand shows the ÖH’s complete lack of planning when it comes to the medical entrance test. “The abolition of MedAT is not a real demand, but blind populism – an ideological dream. We have 15,000 applicants for 1,900 study places across Austria. Nobody can suddenly increase the number of study places eightfold, nor do we need 15,000 new doctors every year.Lukas Schobesberger, federal chairman of the JUNOS students, sharply criticizes the idea of the ÖH. “Here, the ideology-driven nature of the ÖH unfortunately fails again due to reality. Such demands make the ÖH ridiculous and inhibit any serious effort by other study representatives to improve the MedAT or create more study places.

The JUNOS are calling for the number of places to study medicine to be increased and the MedAT to be improved in order to better determine suitability for the qualifications actually required for study and the profession.
