JUNOS elect Sophie Wotschke as top candidate for the National Council election | JUNOS

Wotschke: “There is an alternative to the future-forgotten free money policy and the populism of the right and left.”

Vienna/Salzburg (OTS) At the 29th Federal Congress of JUNOS (Young Liberal NEOS) in Salzburg, Sophie Wotschke was elected as the top candidate for the 2024 National Council election. With over 94% of the votes, Wotschke received the organization’s trust. With this decision, the JUNOS’ goal is for Wotschke to join the National Council in order to effectively represent the interests of the young generation. The NEOS list for the National Council election will be finalized on April 20th.

“I will work with all my might for a policy that today is already thinking about the day after tomorrow. There is an alternative to the future-forgotten free money policy and the populism of the right and left. We need a new start when it comes to intergenerational justice,” said the newly elected JUNOS top candidate.

Wotschke will particularly advocate for a generation-appropriate pension policy and a new promise of advancement. “The promise that you can rebuild something using your own strength needs to be renewed. The dream of owning property must not remain a dream for young people. A real education revolution and radical tax relief belong at the top of the political agenda,” emphasizes Wotschke.

Wotschke further explains: “Austria’s pension policy is as serious as a Spanish shell player. There is no way around a generation-fair pension reform that guarantees that the younger generation also receives a pension,” says Wotschke.

Sophie Wotschke is 25 years old and has been active with NEOS and JUNOS since 2017. The trainee lawyer works at a Viennese law firm and gained her first political experience in student politics. In 2021 she was the nationwide top candidate in the ÖH elections. Wotschke has been federal chairwoman of JUNOS since November 2022.
