“A practical solution was quickly found” – passport photos for e-cards can be registered in the municipalities from April 1st
Vienna (OTS) – „We already pointed out the situation of 24-hour nursing staff at the turn of the year. We are pleased that the National Council has now responded to our suggestions and a workable solution has been found
“, said Sabine Jungwirth, federal spokeswoman for the Green Economy. “This will result in a huge improvement in the situation for those providing 24-hour care.”
The official photos for the new e-card can also be stored in the municipalities from April 1, 2024. They then forward the photo to the social insurance, which takes care of issuing the new, valid e-card.
Many 24-hour carers who do not have Austrian citizenship will soon find themselves without a valid e-card because their photo is not stored with any authority. Until now, you could only hand in a passport photo to the immigration police, which only has a few offices in the country. However, making an appointment to accommodate your own care obligations is almost impossible.
„Independent carers do an enormous amount every day in our country to care for seniors. This makes it all the more important to give them easy access to the healthcare system.
“I’m very pleased that a solution has now been found,” concludes Sabine Jungwirth.
