At today’s 90th state assembly of the Greens Vienna, Judith Pühringer was elected as the top candidate of the Green Vienna with 87.18 percent. An internal preliminary decision for Pühringer was already in November, and the around 500 members of the Green Vienna have now broadly confirmed this decision. In her speech at Messe Vienna, Pühringer emphasized that “green was the very best choice for Vienna”. “Vienna is a lot, but Vienna is rarely brave. The Greens are needed for being brave. I want to fight for a Vienna of tomorrow, for a city that holds, we are fighting for democracy, for women’s rights, against retro policy, for a city that rears up and flows up. We have a city plan for Vienna: a city in which living is affordable again, for a city in which all children have the same opportunities, for a city, the green and in which life becomes easier again. We trust ourselves a city that claims to become a world capital for the circular economy, for new air conditioning technologies, for a sustainable economy that is based on the common good and not on profit alone. We want a Vienna of tomorrow in which social justice goes hand in hand with climate protection, ”says Pühringer.
“Old thinking goes out”
Pühringer referred to green successes such as the 365 euro annual ticket, the climate, Mariahilferstrasse or the minimum security, which would not have been possible without the Greens. “We feel it everywhere, old thinking runs out. We are going bravely, ”said Pühringer.
Federal party leader Werner Kogler and the new Green State Councilor in Burgenland, Anja Haider-Wallner, also gave a speech at the state assembly. The ministers Leonore Gewessler and Alma Zadić were present in the audience.
