In 2025, JTI Austria will not only look back on 241 years of company history, but also on a 12-year series of being recognized as Austria’s top employer with the “Top Employer” certificate. JTI Austria has also held first place among the companies ranked in Austria for 9 years. JTI was also successful as a top employer in Europe and globally for the eleventh time. The globally active group has been undergoing strict audits since 2014, thereby sending a strong signal for further development and continuity.
Ross Hennessy, General Manager of JTI Austria, explains: “The development of our employees is clearly the focus of our corporate management, because this is the only way we can attract first-class talent and keep them on board in the long term. What we offer, but at the same time demand, is flexibility and agility, as well as fairness, appreciation and responsibility.” Together with the entire team, Hennessy is proud of the ninth number 1 award in a row, which is both confirmation and motivation.
Christian Tobias, Director People & Culture at JTI Austria, specifies which parameters contributed to the renewed award: “When evaluating the employee life cycle, we were able to exceed the Austrian top employer benchmark by 15%. We perform particularly outstandingly in the areas of ‘Reward & Recognition’, ‘Diversity, Equity & Inclusion’ and ‘Wellbeing’, but the ‘Onboarding Process’ and ‘People Strategy’ also make a significant contribution to the top ranking,” says Christian Tobias .
“Around 500 people from 36 nations work at JTI Austria. This diversity makes everyday work exciting and inspiring. The fact that we have been in first place in the ‘Top Employer’ ranking for nine years underlines our outstanding position within Austria’s large companies,” explains Ralf-Wolfgang Lothert, Director Corporate Affairs & Communication. “This placement is also beneficial for positioning as an employer; it is not for nothing that we are pleased about double-digit application rates per advertised position,” adds Lothert.
“Even though the economic conditions are currently challenging, we have been able to create many new jobs in recent years, including in the area of research and development,” emphasizes Lothert, which can be classified as an extraordinary achievement in view of multiple crises. “Only those who always keep their finger on the pulse, network and are always prepared to go the extra mile can build up the necessary resilience and thus be successful,” continues Lothert. Quality marks such as “Beruf&Familie”, the “EY Global Equality Standards” or membership of the Leading Companies Austria underline this approach.
