“Josef Taus was a great Austrian and a role model for generations”
Vienna (OTS) –

The Vienna People’s Party is deeply saddened by the death of Josef Taus. The former ÖVP federal chairman, member of the National Council and industrialist died at the age of 91. Josef Taus led the People’s Party from 1975 to 1979 and had a lasting impact on Austrian politics and the country’s economy.

“Josef Taus was a great Austrian whose work was highly valued far beyond party boundaries. His impressive life achievements in politics and business make him a role model for generations,” said state party chairman City Councilor Karl Mahrer.

After his political time, he also left a clear mark with the MTH and his work in industry. “Josef Taus always showed that economic and political commitment can be based on shared values,” continued Mahrer.

“With Josef Taus, Austria is losing one of its defining personalities. My thoughts are with his relatives in these difficult hours,” concluded Mahrer.
