IP Austria, the multichannel marketing subsidiary of RTL Deutschland, announces the launch of an innovative “Sport News” microsite in the HbbTV portal for the Austrian channel frequencies RTL Austria, VOX Austria, NITRO Austria and RTLup Austria. This new platform offers viewers extensive, editorial coverage of a wide range of sports – from football and Formula 1, to tennis, ice hockey, basketball and golf, to handball, volleyball, cycling, NFL, darts and equestrian sports – and that parallel to the current television program. From the second half of 2024, IP Austria will use this initiative to offer its advertising customers an additional advertising platform to specifically address the sports-loving target group.
“We are currently in an intensive beta testing phase in which we are carefully analyzing user feedback and optimizing the functions and content of our platform,” explains Walter Zinggl, Managing Director of IP Austria. “With the planned start of marketing in the second half of the year, we are offering our advertising customers the opportunity to place video and display advertising in a first-class, editorial sports context and thus specifically reach the sports-loving viewers of RTL, VOX, NITRO and RTLup. “
Christian Riegler, Head of Distribution & Digital at IP Austria, adds: “Our offer enables viewers to access constantly updated sports reports while watching the TV program at the same time. High-quality, editorially prepared reports are delivered by our cooperation partners HEIM:SPIEL. Access to the “Sport News” microsite is only possible via the Austrian frequencies of our stations.”
With a view to the coming months, a gradual expansion of the content offering is planned. This includes, among other things, league table overviews and live tickers.
