The reason for this is the negotiations for a new animal transport regulation at EU level. For cattle, sheep and goats, the currently valid regulation provides for a maximum transport period of 29 hours with a one-hour rest and care break.
In practice, this is partly exceeded for the animals for the animals long transport time and the animals are not supplied during the one -hour rest.
With this campaign, the VGT wants to draw attention to how much animals suffer from such long promotion times and the lack of care. The new EU animal transport regulation should allow animal welfare considerations for a maximum of 8 hours of transport for all weaned animals.
Despite the selected place of action, the claim is not aimed at the Austrian Parliament, but at the EU Parliament and the Council of Minister: inside.
