The economic situation of Austria remains tense: the manufacturing economy is in the third year of the recession, industrial production has recently dropped by 9.5 percent – stronger than in any other European country. At the same time, geopolitical developments represent additional challenges.
With the new government program, the central projects of the new federal government are now on the table. Some measures – for example in the area of education and research – are positive signals, while central questions, in particular to reduce the energy and wage incidental costs, remain open.
