Since the beginning of the year, the examination agency for those affected by violence at the MedUni Vienna has offered specialized support for victims of violence. The pilot project funded by federal funds documents injuries according to forensic medical standards, ensures traces and offers advice in connection with domestic and sexual violence and ill -treatment. A first intermediate balance shows that the offer hits high and have already used numerous affected people – mostly women – the facility. In the first eight months since the opening (as of 01.09.2025) there have been a total of 400 case-related groups, with clinical-forensic studies in 293 cases after contacting and advice. “Around 84 percent of those affected who come to us are female,” explains the head of the examination agency, Katharina Stolz. “In 24 percent of the cases, the investigations were carried out due to sexual violence and in 8 percent of cases there was suspicion of the inclusion of KO-means. According to the forensic doctor, the people concerned were between 1 and 92 years old. In 17 percent of the cases examined, there were minors affected. The investigations have taken place 51 percent in the examination office and 49 percent in an interdisciplinary setting in hospitals.
