Today, representatives of the International Young Democrat Union (Iydu) in Nashville (Tennessee) chose their new board. The 30-year-old Lower Austrian Eva Dohalova was chosen 100 % as the first Austrian and the first woman in the history of the association as chairman.
“With Eva Dohalova, a strong, committed and extremely capable young woman takes over the leadership in the Iydu. Many challenges have to be negotiated at a global level today. This is precisely why an Austrian bridge builder is a real profit in global youth policy,” says JVP Federal Minister and Federal Minister Claudia Plakolm.
“Many young people around the world still do not have the privilege of living in freedom. At a time when international cooperation is more important than ever, I am pleased to contribute a part to networking and implementation as Iydu chairman together with my team.
As a umbrella organization, the IYDU comprises 110 member associations and is therefore one of the most important associations for political youth organizations. The young People’s Party has been strongly involved since it was founded in 1981. Eva Dohalova was already General Secretary of Iydu in the previous term. She also works as an international secretary of the Austrian People’s Party.
