International Women’s Day 2024: LEA – Let’s empower Austria and INFOSCREEN Austria are jointly setting an Austria-wide focus

From 01.-08.03. 4,001 screens across Austria will be shown on the topic of equal rights

Vienna (OTS) For the 8-day editorial program special of INFOSCREEN Austria, LEA – Let’s empower Austria was able to create a variety of knowledge inputs in different formats. Under the motto “Empower Women”, the contributions and statements from 8 LEA role models will be shown on all public TV screens throughout Austria from March 1st to 8th.

“Our mission as a federal fund is to strengthen women and make them visible and to sensitize society as a whole to the issue of gender equality. For this year’s International Women’s Day, we are particularly pleased to be able to reach people across Austria on the topics of women’s rights and equality through the joint focus week with INFOSCREEN.”said Nalan Gündüz, director of LEA – Let’s empower Austria.

Stefanie Paffendorf, program director INFOSCREEN: “Since 1911, International Women’s Day has been used to draw attention to women’s rights and gender equality around the world. The day is intended to celebrate the achievements of the women’s rights movement to date while at the same time drawing attention to discrimination and inequalities that still exist. Media makes an important contribution to making the general public aware of these important issues. We are pleased to be able to focus, together with LEA and UN Women, on 4,001 INFOSCREENs across Austria for “International Women’s Day.”

Melissa Tara Nielsen, Knowledge Management LEA: “Equality work is always awareness work. Knowledge of historical achievements in the area of women’s rights and awareness of one’s own legal protection make it possible to identify discrimination and demand equal participation in society. I am pleased to be able to draw attention to issues that should concern us all as part of this media cooperation.”

Barbara Pöll, Head of LEA Role Model Initiative: “Making role models visible is key: we are inspired by what we see and can therefore discover our full potential. By working with INFOSCREEN, we have the opportunity to bring some of our LEA role models to the forefront and thus contribute together to equality in Austria.”

About LEA – Let’s empower Austria

The Austrian Fund for the Strengthening and Promotion of Women and Girls (LEA – Let’s empower Austria), founded in 2022, has set itself the goal of advancing gender equality in Austria. The focus of the measures is on dismantling outdated role models and enabling young people and women in particular to freely develop their potential. With awareness-raising formats, LEA sets accents in all phases of the (female) biography – these range from STEM children’s books to workshops for children and young people or seminars on financial independence to project funding and commissioning of studies. Almost 100 LEA role models and our own youth advisory board support the work of the fund on a voluntary basis and send a strong signal for greater visibility of women beyond common stereotypes.
