Recently, Associate Professor Dr. Beate Jahn from the Department of Public Health, Health Services Research and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) at the Tyrolean private university UMIT TIROL received a great honor. She was elected president of one of the leading international professional societies in the field of medical decision making, the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM). With more than 1,000 members worldwide, the Society for Medical Decision Making is one of the most important international professional societies dealing with medical decision-making and healthcare. It connects experts from public health, medicine, epidemiology, health economics, psychology, sociology, ethics, law, data science, mathematics and communication. Already in May, the head of the Department for Public Health, Health Services Research and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) at the Tyrolean private university UMIT TIROL, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Uwe Siebert, elected President of ISPOR – Association for Health Economics and Outcome Research. ISPOR, with its 19,000 members, has set itself the goal of improving decision-making for governments and other decision-makers in the healthcare sector in an interdisciplinary and science-based manner, thus providing the basis for the best possible health outcomes in an efficient manner. With Univ.-Prof. Dr. Uwe Siebert and Assoz.-Prof. Dr. Beate Jahn, for the first time in the history of SMDM and ISPOR, two presidents from one institution were elected to the two leading international professional societies in the field of medical decision-making.
