inside and the Braunau district are the losers
Linz (OTS) –

The bankruptcy of the motorcycle manufacturer KTM and the loss of hundreds of jobs are causing massive turbulence in the Mattighofen region. Green Party spokesman Stefan Kaineder sharply criticized: “While the affected employees look into an uncertain future, KTM boss Stefan Pierer appears to remain unaffected and can afford to invest millions in other projects.”

Five years ago, KTM hit the headlines due to a funding scandal: At that time, millions from cultural funding flowed into a “motorcycle museum” in Mattighofen – a prestigious project by Pierer. Today it is the company’s insolvency that is plunging the region into an economic and social hole.

Kaineder raises critical questions: “How can it be that Mr. Pierer, as President of the Upper Austrian Industrial Association, billionaire and major ÖVP donor, denies responsibility for this crisis and hides? And how is it possible that on the one hand he can afford to invest millions in purchasing a fire department equipment while on the other hand he is leaving hundreds of employees in the lurch?”

For the Greens in Upper Austria, one thing is clear: there is an urgent need for a political and economic realignment that focuses on the well-being of the people and makes those responsible for economic matters like Stefan Pierer more accountable. “I also see a challenge here for the “business party” ÖVP, which has also benefited directly from the entrepreneur’s party donations in recent years! The people in the region deserve answers and perspectives, not lip service or whitewashing,” concluded Kaineder.
