“Wetland City” Schrems: largest pond in Austria
In December 2024, the municipality of Schrems made the non -partisan fundamental decision to become the first “Wetland City” in the entire German -speaking area. With the volunteer management of the local committee, Dr. Sebastian Bohrn Mena from the Común Foundation.
„With the Gebhartste pond, Schrems is not only the largest pond in Austria, but also the former largest high bog in Lower Austria. Indoor family festival from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with free admission
In the morning, an information event for invited guests from politics, business, science and civil society takes place, in the afternoon the gates of the underwater kingdom are opened to the population. With free admission, the importance of wetlands is informed, but also fun and fun.
