From now on, technology-loving women can make their theses, which they have written in the context of training in the MINT area (mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology), for the “women’s funding award for digitization and innovation” https://extra.ORF.at submit. The price, which was advertised by ORF and Infineon Technologies Austria for the third time, offers female talents the chance to put their innovative work in the spotlight and attract the attention of the industry. After the first two successful editions, each with around 70 submissions each, the ORF, as the largest Austrian media company and Infineon as the world market leader for power electronics and pioneers in the semiconductor industry, set a strong sign of promoting women in the MINT area. The award actively contributes to supporting the training and professional entry of women into the MINT sector. At the same time, it makes it visible how diverse and successfully women can bring in their skills in technological and digital environment, and underlines how exciting and attractive a career in these areas is especially for women.

The details of the tender
Women can participate in 2024 and 2025 theses at an HTL, university of applied sciences, university or university in Austria (department, bachelor and master’s theses or dissertations). Work from 2023 can also be submitted if they have not already been sent in at the last tender. We are looking for outstanding work in the areas of information and communication technology, technology, natural sciences, media systems and creative technology. A special focus is also on sustainable technologies (special prize “Tech for Green”) and young talents (special “Young Talents” price for HTL graduates).
The submission period runs from September 22nd to December 7th, 2025, 12 noon. All registrations and submissions take place via https://extra.ORF.at/.
After a pre-selection by a specialist advisory board, the finalists present their work on March 5, 2026 at the ORF media campus in Vienna in front of a top-class expert: Inner jury. As part of a festive event, the winners and special award winners are awarded.
Prices and awards
The “Women’s Promotion Prize for Digitization and Innovation” is endowed with EUR 10,000 (1st place), EUR 5,000 (2nd place) and EUR 2,000 (3rd place). Furthermore, the special prices “Young Talents” (EUR 1,000) and “Tech for Green” (EUR 2,000) are awarded. For the winners there is also the option of doing internships in ORF technology and infineon Austria. Places in the Infineon Winter or Summerschool are also available.
