Vienna (OTS) –

The Vienna Health Promotion – WiG celebrated its premiere last Wednesday with the Everyone for Everyone – Festival of Encounters in the Arkadenhof of the Vienna City Hall, where it welcomed around 700 visitors with free admission who enthusiastically took part in the diverse information and entertainment program . “Vienna stands for diversity and is a city for everyone! Events like these are important because they set an example for inclusion and enable encounters between people with and without disabilities,” emphasizes Peter Hacker, City Councilor for Social Affairs, Health and Sport.

Together with Dennis Beck, Managing Director of Vienna Health Promotion – WiG, City Councilor Hacker got an idea of the numerous offers and interactive stations on site. “I am pleased that so many Viennese came to the festival of encounters and learned new things, tried them out and had fun. The focus was on togetherness and dialogue with other visitors and also organizations that work with and for people with disabilities. We achieved that with this festival,” says Dennis Beck, Managing Director of Vienna Health Promotion – WiG.

Entertainment, exchange and information
From 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., a varied program ensured a great atmosphere. Numerous Viennese organizations that work for and with people with disabilities, as well as Viennese self-help groups, presented their offerings on site and were available to those interested for discussions and questions. In addition to short lectures in simple language on the topics of exercise, nutrition and mental health, visitors also had the opportunity to talk to the Austrian Council for the Disabled. In addition to a danced fashion show and dance music from all over the world, many stations invited people to try things out and take part. In particular, the interactive offers, such as the climbing tower, the circus or horse station for children, were easy to use for all visitors, whether with or without disabilities, thanks to the experienced care and support. Whether first aid, climbing, tightrope walking, juggling, making hobby horses, balancing or guessing smells – there was something to discover for every taste! With this wealth of interactive offerings, rousing music, information and exchange, the festival of encounters offered lots of fun and entertainment for young and old.
