Vienna (OTS) – Never in the history of humanity has so much power and money been limited to so few companies as now. No matter whether Google, Facebook or Apple – they make billions in profits and drive the rest of the world ahead of them. They have monopolistic positions in their areas and use every means possible to fend off emerging competition.
The most dominant are the social media companies. 20 years ago, Facebook saw the light of day and completely changed it. From the way we communicate, consume news, shop or find our partners – everything is controlled by digital corporations. Every day, legions of psychologists work on how apps can be designed to make us addicted.
Will the “Digital Services Act” in Europe put “Big Tech” companies in their place? What impact do corporations have on democracy and society? What should I do?
