Vienna (OTS) – Politicians are required to create affordable housing. Can this be achieved with the housing package that the federal government approved in parts this week with the SPÖ and FPÖ? Among other things, it will make it easier for housing loans and, in the future, a solar system will have to be installed in subsidized new buildings. Is it enough given the rising rents and high real estate prices everywhere? In Salzburg, the runoff election for the mayor’s office is taking place between the SPÖ and KPÖ+, and the housing problem is the main issue in the election campaign. There is already a communist mayor in Graz. What are they doing differently? How does politics ensure that housing does not become a luxury good?
