Vienna (OTS) – “Femicide is a men’s issue” – with this sentence, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen made people sit up and take notice after six women were killed in Austria within a few days. Which structures promote violence against women, and why are the perpetrators usually men? Do we need to break down outdated role models and a new understanding of masculinity? What role does the cultural background of the perpetrators play, and how can you reach men and young people who are prone to violence before they become perpetrators? ÖVP Women’s Minister Susanne Raab has announced a violence protection strategy for this legislative period. What must politicians do to prevent acts of violence and protect victims?
