“IN THE CENTER”: Child-poor Austria – ways out of the birth doldrums

On May 12th at 10:10 p.m. on ORF 2

Vienna (OTS) Fewer and fewer children are being born in Austria. According to Statistics Austria, a total of 11,448 fewer people were born than died last year. Only in Vienna, Tyrol and Vorarlberg are more babies born than there are deaths. Experts warn: no children, no prosperity. Austria is top in the EU when it comes to family benefits. Why do more and more women still want fewer children or no children at all? What can policymakers do to combat the decline in birth rates? What measures could be taken immediately and effectively?
