Main prize for the ORF country crime drama and special prize for Linde Prelog as Best Actress

New year, new double victory! Adele Neuhauser started the shower of awards at this year’s television crime festival with the honorary award for her “characterful portrayal” of Bibi Fellner in the Austro “Tatort” on March 17th. Now things are continuing excellently in Wiesbaden: After the double success of Karl Markovics’ ORF/ARTE country crime drama “The Silence of the Donkeys”, which was awarded the festival’s renowned main prize last year and brought Julia Koch the special prize for Best Actress , a country crime thriller was once again twice as convincing this year – this time “Until my soul is cold for me” from Carinthia. Overall, the main prize has gone to ORF for the fourth time – in addition to “The Silence of the Donkeys” (2023), David Schalko’s country crime film “Höhenstraße” (2017), a co-production between ORF and Superfilm, and Andreas Prochaska’s ORF/ ZDF co-production “Traces of Evil – Magic Mountain” (2014). Linde Prelog can also look forward to the special award for Best Actress for her role as Mrs. Gritznigg. In addition to her, Jutta Fastian and Pia Hierzegger – who is also responsible for the script – appear in the country crime thriller directed by Daniel Prochaska, which was produced by ORF, ZDF, Mona Film and Tivoli Film with the support of TV Fund Austria, FISA+, Carinthia Film Commission and the state of Carinthia -, Clemens Berndorff, Alicia von Rittberg, Fritz Karl, Kevin Brand and Gerda Drabek. The country crime thriller “Until my soul is cold for me” is expected to be on ORF 1 in 2024. The award ceremony will take place today, Friday, March 22, 2024, at 8 p.m. at the Caligari FilmBühne in Wiesbaden.
The jury explains its decision for the main prize: “’I’m cold to my soul’ tells life as it is. And that is what we value so much about this film: that it is an impetus for us as viewers, beyond the excitement of a good evening of crime, to take a more sensitive look at the whole thing and to have a greater understanding of the connections between us.”
The unanimous jury vote for the special award for Best Actress for Linde Prelog: “Linde Prelog gives the life of rural simplicity the size of a state run. The painful desolation, the occasional consolation in a glass of beer and the desire to forget in senility reveal it as an escape from loneliness, but by no means as a result of a lack of presence. Our life together forces us to believe that being old is a burden. For us, Linde Prelog is a symbol and role model for showing that this is not true. She and her wife Gritznigg created a monument. We can all humbly say here: age doesn’t make the difference, it’s the wisdom of life.”

The German Television Crime Festival is an event organized by the Cultural Office of the state capital Wiesbaden with the support of Hessen Film & Medien, Hessischer Rundfunk and SV SparkassenVersicherung, in cooperation with the Media Center Wiesbaden, the Wiesbadener Kurier and the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine.
The jury for the German TV Crime Festival 2024 included actress, comedienne and presenter Thelma Buabeng, actor Rick Okon, actress Christina Hecke, writer and photographer Bernhard Aichner and casting director Deborah Congia.
