The new Ford Mustang GT3 made its debut this year at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the opener of the North American IMSA sports car series. Already in its debut season, the “pony car” powered by a 5.4 liter V8 engine was able to achieve several podium finishes – including at the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, the highlight of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC. In 2025, after the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the 24-hour race in the infamous “Green Hell” of the Eifel circuit and races in the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) are also on the program.
HRT is the up-and-coming team of racing driver Hubert Haupt. The team, based in the Meuspath motorsport industrial park at the Nürburgring, can boast numerous successes, including the drivers’ titles in the DTM 2021 and the GT World Challenge Europe 2023. Ford also has a successful history with the DTM. It goes back to the 1980s with the legendary Sierra RS500 Cosworth. In addition, there were five overall victories at the 24-hour Nürburgring with racing vehicles based on the Escort, Capri and Sierra RS500.
Mark Rushbrook, Global Director Ford Performance Motorsports: “The fact that a team like HRT is joining our global Ford Performance family is a great moment for us. The Haupt Racing Team’s previous successes in the DTM and other racing series are a strong reference for the Mustang GT3. We are very pleased that They will tackle the legendary ADAC RAVENOL 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and many other iconic race tracks in Europe. This also means that the Ford Mustang GT3 will take part in the most important 24-hour races together with our partners from Multimatic and Proton Competition. Races such as Le Mans, Daytona and Spa will be at the start. With this collaboration, we are not only further expanding the Mustang racing program for 2025, but also strengthening our global position in GT3 racing and opening up new series and target groups around the world .”
Ulrich Fritz, Managing Director of the Main Racing Team: “HRT has developed continuously in recent years. We have built up a high level of expertise in the use and further development of racing vehicles. Accordingly, we are very much looking forward to these new partnerships. The fact that Ford has chosen HRT as the spearhead in Europe is one great honor. Ford is a real power brand with a great motorsport tradition and high motivation. The Ford Mustang GT3 is a racing vehicle that we can certainly take forward even further. I am sure “We can make a good contribution to the further development of lubricants. We will be well prepared for the coming season and are very much looking forward to working with Ford and RAVENOL.”
