The houses for life accompany their employees in all phases of life: from training and further education, to career opportunities to the compatibility of professional and private life. “Over 70% of our approximately 5,100 employees are women and also on the management level they represent the majority with over 60%. We promote a work environment by being able to develop women and thus make a decisive contribution to the further development and success of the houses to live! ”, Emphasizes Managing Director Mag. In addition, targeted programs encourage young women to pursue their professional goals and to promote their career. The high proportion of female apprentices – over 70 women are currently completing their training in the houses to live – and their targeted funding, were awarded the renowned Amazone Award in 2024.
A strong cooperation in all phases of life
The houses for life stand not only for strong women’s promotion at work, but also for a good coexistence of the generations. More than 6,000 women live to live in the houses, including 103 of them at the age of 100 to 110 years. In the pensioner clubs for the city of Vienna, women make up around 80 percent of the 25,000 members. “The stories of women who won the right to vote and still needed permission to work from their husbands are moving stories that encourage us to think about,” adds Mag.A Madlena Komitova, head of the pensioner for the city of Vienna.
The clubs: From Women’s Day to Women’s Week
On the occasion of the World Women’s Day, the clubs invite you to a diverse program from March 3 to March 8, which focuses on women. In a variety of offers specially designed for women, the topic of visualizing the needs of women and girls is dealt with creatively and in a variety of ways. The highlights include narrative cafés that act as language spaces for women, varied offers such as drum rounds, women’s aerobics, a writing workshop, Pilates and creative workshops. For those who prefer more relaxed, hand massages and a flower bingo are on the program. On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the highlight of the Women’s Week will be set with a stand at the women’s fair. In the “Open City Hall” (entrance Lichtenfelsgasse 2) – with free admission – International Women’s Day is celebrated with advice, concerts and tours for women and girls. The pensioners are of course also on site!
The houses to life
The houses for life are the largest provider of senior care in Austria with 30 pensioners in 21 Vienna municipal districts in Austria. The houses for life offer most care and living spaces in the country. In addition, thousands of older people visit the Vienna -wide retirement clubs for the city of Vienna every day, which are also operated by the houses to life. The houses for life are funded by the Social Eas Vienna (FSW) fund from the city of Vienna.
