Holy Week and Easter on ORF Lower Austria

An overview of the program on ORF Lower Austria

St. Pölten (OTS) The ORF Lower Austria offers its listeners and viewers a varied program on Radio Niederösterreich and in “NÖ aktuell” during Holy Week and the Easter holidays.

DELICIOUS CULINARY EASTER RECIPES FROM RADIO NÖ COOK ANDREA KARRER On Saturday, March 23rd and Holy Saturday, March 30th, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Radio NÖ

Traditional pastries are an essential part of Holy Week and Easter:
The Easter braid is one of the lucky breads and, like on numerous other festive occasions during the church year, a wide variety of types are baked at Easter – from Easter lamb to wreaths. The ancient Sumerians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans already knew special baking molds made of clay or bronze for such pastries. We still encounter many of these shapes every day: Kipferl, Brezel, Beugel… all descendants of ancient models. This also applies to the plaited pastries from Andrea Karrer’s Osterstriezel, which she is presenting on Saturday, March 23rd.

A buttercream cake always fits a festive occasion and Radio NÖ chef Andrea Karrer is offering it as an Easter cake on Holy Saturday (March 30th). She shares an old family recipe from her great-aunt Anni, a gifted pastry chef, with the listeners. The recipes are available to bake on noe.ORF.at on the respective broadcast date!
