The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust on January 27 was established by the United Nations in 2005 to commemorate the Holocaust and the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. This time the IKG’s annual memorial ceremony took place one day before the international one Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th because it falls on Shabbat.
