“Hohes Haus” about initial surveys and a poor report card for inclusion

On March 3rd at 12 p.m. on ORF 2

Vienna (OTS) Rebekka Salzer presents the ORF parliamentary magazine “Hohes Haus” on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 12 p.m. on ORF 2 with the following topics:

First interviews

The start of the two new investigative committees is imminent. However, there are no agendas yet. The COFAG investigative committee begins next Wednesday, and the “Red-Blue Abuse of Power” investigative committee begins on Wednesday the following week. There is still disagreement as to whether these committees should be broadcast live; a referendum on this matter was discussed in the National Council this week and shelved. Claus Bruckmann followed the debate in the National Council and spoke in detail with Christa Edwards; she is supposed to serve as a procedural judge on both investigative committees.

In Rebekka Salzer’s studio, the investigative committee faction leaders Kai Jan Krainer, SPÖ, and Yannick Shetty, NEOS, discuss.

Bad testimony for inclusion

When it comes to inclusive education, things are looking rather bad in Austria. In 2023, a UN expert committee determined once again that Austria is not implementing Article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. In concrete terms, this means that children with disabilities cannot learn on an equal basis. The Ungargasse school center in Vienna shows that things can be different. Here, young people aged 14 and over can attend a HAK or HTL, regardless of whether they have special needs or not. Susanne Däubel reports.
