“High House” about space and order

On June 9th at 12 p.m. on ORF 2

Vienna (OTS) Rebekka Salzer presents the ORF parliamentary magazine “Hohes Haus” on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 12 p.m. on ORF 2 with the following topics:

Space and order

Soil sealing, business establishment, residential construction, nature and climate protection – these are buzzwords with contradictory interests. Spatial planning should provide answers to this. Auditor General Margit Kraker declared spatial planning a priority project at the last National Council meeting. How does science see this and what does reality look like? Claus Bruckmann was in two communities where the mayors are also members of the National Council.

Our guest in the studio is Alois Humer, spatial planner and urban developer at the Academy of Sciences.

School and Parliament

On Monday, the Austrian Parliament was all about education policy. But it wasn’t the “old hands” who sat in the rows of representatives in the plenary hall, but school representatives. The nationwide student parliament has been anchored in law since 2018. The young delegates debated their proposals on the subject of schools and submitted the results to the parliamentary education committee. David Moidl followed the meeting of the student parliament.

Elected tourist guides

Since the reopening of the parliament on Vienna’s Ringstrasse, the number of visitors has continued to be high. Almost every day, several groups of visitors are guided through the renovated building in parallel. The guests learn something about the history of the house as well as about the work of the MPs, sometimes even from themselves. Susanne Däubel accompanied two MPs on such a special tour: NEOS MP Yannick Shetty from the currently smallest parliamentary group in the opposition and the ÖVP MP Andreas Hanger from the currently largest faction in the government.
