Vienna (OTS) – Rebekka Salzer will present the following articles in the ORF parliamentary magazine “Hohes Haus” on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 12 p.m. on ORF 2:
Short and violent
In the super election year of 2024 there will be two new parliamentary investigative committees. The “COFAG investigative committee” requested by the SPÖ and FPÖ is intended to investigate possible preferential treatment for billionaires. The “Red-Blue Abuse of Power Investigative Committee” called for by the ÖVP is intended to address the alleged improper use of public money under SPÖ and FPÖ government participation. Due to the limited time and the election campaign, it will probably be a short but even more intense committee time. Marcus Blecha with the details.
In the studio is Kai Jan Krainer, member of the National Council and finance spokesman for the SPÖ.

The armed forces are one of the winners of the budget. Barracks are to be renovated and new helicopters are to be purchased. There is agreement on this in all parliamentary parties. Recruiting staff is currently a major problem, as highly qualified employees are paid more on the open market. And officers are academics, but are not paid as such. Claus Bruckmann listened to the parties’ positions and spoke to Major General Hofbauer, the Army’s chief of planning, and Minister Tanner.
Waiting for rent caps
Three months ago, after two years of inflation, the government presented a rent cap that had long been demanded by experts and the opposition. However, little has happened since then. A first draft, which attracted a lot of criticism, was assigned to the responsible committee. However, this has not yet met. In the meantime, time is running out and the next increases are pending. Susanne Däubel spoke to the responsible members of the National Council.
