“It is an honor and responsibility at the same time to continue Austria’s largest university of applied sciences as a rector,” says Heimo Sandtner. “Our society faces complex challenges – the persistent shortage of skilled workers, the progressive climate change and the need to make socio -political dynamics positively. In teaching, Sandtner also set accents, for example with the management and the establishment of the Bachelor and Master’s degree in High Tech Manufacturing as well as through the establishment and initiation of several student teams, such as the OS.CAR Racing team, which achieved remarkable success at the International Formula Student.
On a personal level, as a bridge builder, in addition to the maintenance of an extensive network with universities and companies, the expansion of social spaces at the university of applied sciences is particularly important to him: For example, the band Campus Beats founded by Heimo Sandtner, in which students, teachers, researchers and employees play music together, regularly charity concerts, whose revenue benefits the SOS children’s village.
