Women live longer than men, but spend less years in good health. Shortly before World Women’s Day, the health center for self -employed with a focus on the subject of women’s health set a sign of reducing this gap between life and quality of life through targeted prevention.
Under the motto “Let’s talk about … women’s health”, around 70 SVS insured people learned more about women-specific health issues in the areas of mental health, heart health, metabolic diseases, menopause and menopause. The evening was moderated by Dr. Heribert Scheck, himself a specialist in internal medicine and angiology in the health center, who presented his colleagues in a lively round of talks. The focus was on personal exchange between the specialists and experts from the health center and the participants.
“It is very important to us to sensitize the SVS insured persons to their own health. Such events make a valuable contribution, ”emphasizes SVS General Director Dr. Alexander Biach, who opened the evening. “With the ‘Let’s Talk About …’ format, we create a platform with which we convey important health issues low -threshold and practical – and thus strengthen the personal responsibility of the insured for their health,” supplemented Mag. Edith Lachinger, operational managing director of the health center for self -employed.
In addition to the exchange with the experts, the insured had the opportunity to perceive simple pension checks on site. The offer included investigations to check the vascular health, a measurement to determine the body composition, information on the self-examination of the breast in the context of breast cancer early detection and quick tests for determining the vitamin D level in cooperation with the Austrian society from the golden cross.
“The great rush shows that interest in women -specific health care is enormous,” sums up Prim. Dr. Wanda Lakner, Emba, medical director of the health center and initiator of the event. “Women live longer than men, but spend less years in good health. The earlier we start to set prevention measures, the better the chances that we will close this gap between life and quality of life, ”is Dr. Lakner convinced.
