Hard Rock International lays the foundation stone for the Hard Rock Hotel Athens

Today Hard Rock International, GEK TERNA Group and the Athens community celebrated the laying of the foundation stone of the luxury resort directly on the Athens Riviera. The laying of the foundation stone was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony on the grounds of the historic Hellinikon Airport. The ensuing ceremony, attended by executives from Hard Rock International, GEK TERNA Group, Greek government officials, political dignitaries and local community representatives, took place at the Hellinikon Experience Center.

The Hard Rock Hotel Athens will be the first integrated resort of its kind in continental Europe and will serve as an economic engine for entertainment and tourism in the city of Athens. The resort, scheduled to open in 2027, will be a unique destination offering an upscale hotel, a world-class meeting and convention center, a modern entertainment center, an internationally renowned dining offering, a luxurious Rock Spa® and pool complex, and an exclusive shopping promenade offers.

The construction project, which costs 1.5 billion euros, involves the construction of a state-of-the-art facility that is expected to create 3,000 construction jobs and 3,000 permanent positions. This will not only stimulate the local economy in Athens, but will also have a direct positive impact on the overall Greek economy.

The Hard Rock Hotel Athens has 1,100 rooms and 15 dining options. The project will also include a Hard Rock Live Theater with 3,000 seats and 4,000 standing room, as well as the Rock® Spa and Body Rock Fitness.

This unique destination, inspired by the diversity of Athens’ historical heritage and culture as well as the beauty of the Mediterranean landscape, represents an expansion of Hard Rock’s growing presence in Europe. Hard Rock and GEK TERNA Group’s commitment to this Project reflects the shared vision with the Greek government and Lamda Development to transform the historic Hellinikon Airport into a world-class redevelopment project that will strengthen the city and boost the Greek tourism industry.
