Final days of filming on the set of Gerhard Liegel’s case “Messer” (AT) also for Simon Schwarz, Martina Ebm and Simon Morzé, among others
Vienna (OTS) – Chaotic scenes at the latest “crime scene”: When Harald Krassnitzer and Adele Neuhauser are called to his award-winning restaurant after the murder of the owner and chef, they find complex relationships, a toxic working environment and numerous motives for murder. Between the starter, main course and dessert, jealousy, greed, an unexplained death, sexual harassment and an affair are on the daily menu behind the scenes at the noble restaurant “Efeukron”. But who was tempted by this to try out the “knives” (AT) not on the delicacies, but on the victim? After a supposedly big breakthrough, the successful Austrian duo has seen that they need to take a closer look in this complex case.
Until the beginning of July 2024, in addition to Harald Krassnitzer (in his 60th case) and Adele Neuhauser (in her 36th case), Christina Scherrer, Simon Schwarz ( “Beasts”, Eberhofer crime novels), Daniel Keberle (“Hochwald”, “Blindly Investigated – Death on the Danube”), Martina Ebm (“Suburban Women”, “All Dark”), Simon Morzé (“The Fox”), Manuel Sefciuc, Lisa Schützenberger (“Soko Linz”), Zoé Sedlak, Alexander Srtschin, Tamim Fattal (“Biester”) and Josef Mohamed in front of the camera. After the case of “Alles was gut ist”, Gerald Liegel, who has also been responsible for productions such as “Schnell sucht” and “Soko Kitzbühel” in the past, will be in the director’s chair for the second time. The script for this crime thriller, like the Austrian “Tatort” case “Azra”, was written by Sarah Wassermair. “Tatort – Messer” (AT) is an ORF production, produced by Film27. Director Gerald Liegel: “Look behind the scenes of top gastronomy”
Director Gerald Liegel says about the new “crime scene” and the challenges that lie ahead for the investigator duo: “The audience can look forward to taking a look behind the scenes of top gastronomy with Bibi and Moritz. Bibi in particular isn’t having it easy this time and is struggling with her job – and Moritz isn’t always much help either.” About his experience on set: “It’s something special, again with such a wonderful team of actors and employees :to work together internally.”
Screenwriter Sarah Wassermair: “between poetic gravity and Viennese insults”
“In ‘Tatort – Messer’ we immerse ourselves in the world of award-winning gastronomy, where the fine art of culinary art collides with an absolutely merciless working environment. Whether salmon is filleted or the sadistic boss – that depends on the situation. Bibi and Moritz not only face a tricky investigation, but also private rows. As soon as Debt Collection Heinzi has to spontaneously intervene as a relationship advisor, there is a real emotional imbalance in the BKA.” And further: “For me, what is special about the Vienna ‘crime scenes’ is the chemistry between the investigators. Somewhere between poetic gravity and Viennese insults, a great love between the two floats in the room. Never spoken, always tangible.”
