When Dieter Chmelar counted, he came to almost 7,000 shipments. I should have kept records.”

For his 80th birthday – the long night of Peter Rapp on February 10th on ORF 2:

“Peter Rapp – As if it were yesterday” celebrates “80 years of Peter Rapp” on February 10th at 10:20 p.m

For his birthday, Peter Rapp himself is the focus of the new edition of his TV nostalgia show. Johannes Hoppe has therefore selected excerpts from more than 100 programs that show Austria’s long-serving showmaster in his entire range and remind us of milestones in his career.
This includes the legendary “Spotlight,” where Peter Rapp was always good for spontaneous performances, such as the kung fu fight with Carl Douglas, a Spike Jones parody or the “Disco Polka” with Frank Zander. The highlight for rock ‘n’ roll fan Rapp was the appearance of his idols Bill Haley and Fats Domino. Other milestones in Peter Rapp’s career included “Hoppala”, Tele-As”, “Who A Says”, “Champion”, “Starlight” and “The Briefless Show”, but also the encounters with the great show masters Rudi Carrell, Hans Rosenthal, Thomas Gottschalk and Peter Alexander.
In the 90-minute special edition of “As If It Was Yesterday,” numerous friends, musicians and companions of the TV favorite also have their say: Chris Lohner remembers performing together at the circus at “Artists-Animals-Attractions,” and Andy Borg remembers his discovery in “The Big Chance”, Felix Dvorak in the musical “Ali Baba” in the Wiener Stadthalle, where Peter Rapp played his servant, and Hans Krankl in the beard shave in the FC Barcelona stadium after a lost bet.
Musical birthday greetings come from, among others, Wolfgang Ambros, Carl Peyer, Boris Bukowski, Pizzera & Jaus, song contest double winner Johnny Logan and boogie pianist Axel Zwingenberger, and the birthday child himself also shows off his singing qualities together with Mandy from the Bambis, Viktor Gernot, Mortimer Shuman, the Ridin’ Dudes and Monti Beton. A special rarity: What Peter Rapp experienced in his youth, what shaped him and what he wishes for the youth of today can be found out in a “speech for the national holiday” that he was once able to give on Ö3.
