Appointment of Dominic Weiss to the board was unanimously approved
Vienna (OTS) – Dominic Weiss will be the new head of the office of the Vienna Business Agency; the appointment came after the completion of a public tender process. At the suggestion of Finance and Economics City Councilor Peter Hanke, who heads the Executive Board of the Vienna Business Agency, Weiss was today unanimously appointed by the Board of Directors of the Vienna Business Agency.
Dominic Weiss will take over management of the office of the Vienna Business Agency on January 1, 2025. In this role he succeeds Gerhard Hirczi.

Dominic Weiss, a proven city expert in the areas of innovation, smart cities and digitalization strategies, was appointed head of the office. Dominic Weiss has been managing UIV Urban Innovation Vienna GmbH (a subsidiary of Wien Holding) since the beginning of 2022, where he has been employed since 2013. Before that, he was able to gain his first professional experience at the Vienna Business Agency, including in the Brussels office. He has a degree in political science, is 40 years old, married and the father of two sons.
Weiss is looking forward to his new role at the Vienna Business Agency with enthusiasm: “I am proud to be able to contribute to the further development of Vienna as a business location together with the team at the Vienna Business Agency. With a lot of proximity to practice, but also with visionary goals, we will take the right steps for the city’s economy in order to promote innovation and economic progress on a large and small scale. Weiss succeeds Gerhard Hirczi, who took over the management of the Vienna Business Agency shortly after the global financial crisis in 2009 and is retiring at the end of the year. Gregor Deix remains the second managing director of the Vienna Business Agency.
The outgoing managing director Gerhard Hirczi on his farewell: “For 15 years, I had the opportunity to strengthen Vienna as a business location and convince international companies of the qualities of our city. For me it was and is one of the best jobs in the world.
”
During his time at the Vienna Business Agency, Gerhard Hirczi made a significant contribution to positioning Vienna as an international business location. Despite negative forecasts, the number of international business establishments has tripled since he took office. In total, over 2,500 settlement projects have been implemented in Vienna since 2009.
