Vienna (OTS/ÖVP-PK) – “The FPÖ-Russia information axis, unclear constructions surrounding the think tank agency including public money for the blue party and now also investigations by the economic and corruption prosecutor’s office into advertisement corruption: Herbert Kickl’s need for explanations increases every day, but his willingness to provide answers always does smaller,” criticizes Abg. Andreas Hanger, ÖVP parliamentary group leader in both investigative committees, the behavior of FPÖ party chairman Herbert Kickl. In keeping with Kickl’s “current panic status”, he has now announced that he will not be showing up next Tuesday because of a vacation trip. This is all the more scandalous since next week, in addition to the U-Committee, there will also be a parliamentary committee week that was already decided in the summer of 2023 in preparation for the plenary days from May 15th to 17th. “Kickl knew about this week’s committee program since July of the previous year and is planning a vacation for exactly this time. This could probably have been started a few days later,” said Hanger about Kickl’s more than dubious understanding of serious parliamentary work.
“This rejection can basically only mean that Kickl wants to avoid the obligation to tell the truth before the questioning – for a chairman of a parliamentary party an unbelievable scandal and an incredible disregard for parliament. And that in a situation in which there are even more urgent questions than in the first survey,” says Hanger, who refers to the most recent developments in the “Kickl-Causes”. “And as if this wasn’t enough of a need for clarification, the details surrounding the mega financial scandal of the FPÖ Graz will also be on the program next week,” says Hanger, for whom it is clear that Kickl, as boss, is addressing the questions surrounding it must make the allegations against him and his party in the course of a new summons. “Kickl has to go to the U-Committee without any ifs or buts because of his involvement in several cases. But apparently, after his role as a secret service destroyer and pay emperor, he now also wants to become the nation’s coward!” Of course, Herbert Kickl will be invited back to the U-Committee at the next possible date, and there is also a possible penalty.
