Vienna (OTS) – Daniel Reisenberger will take over the position of Area Manager for Southeast and Eastern Europe on January 1, 2024, thus handing over his five-year role as Chairman of the Management Board at Schindler Austria. Long-time manager Janine Schwabe-Häder takes responsibility for Schindler Austria.
The manager has been with Schindler Austria since 2012 and previously worked at Battenfeld-Cincinnati and Denzel, among others. In addition to her master’s degree at WU, she completed a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering at the FH Technikum Wien. The German-born woman headed Maintenance Management, Existing Installation Management and the Central region at Schindler, including Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia. Most recently, the industrial engineer was responsible for field operations for Schindler Austria as a member of the management team. In addition to her operational work, she brings extensive skills in the area of digitalization. Schwabe-Häder took care of this with the introduction of the digital tool case FieldLink for the digital connection of Austrian service technicians. FieldLink generates proactive, high-quality services through digital access to information, checklists and technical documentation. Through digital networking, the knowledge of the service technicians on site is shared with colleagues from the Technical Operations Center at Wienerberg and perfectly coordinated in the interests of the customer.
On the crisis in residential construction and the first signs of an upward trend
Despite all the technical and digital innovation, the industry is currently experiencing a slump in construction activity, especially in residential construction. 2023 was a challenging year. A Euribor increase from below zero to almost four percent had to be absorbed within just 15 months.
„It will still take some time for the system to settle down again. No changes are currently foreseeable for 2024, but we are already seeing the prospect of an upward trend and the first signs of stabilization. Interest rates are now constant and inflation is under control. From a positive perspective, now is the time for professionals and technology leaders with high equity ratios and the ability to invest in new areas of development – from the use of green electricity to digital maintenance to AI applications. Schindler is a leader in these fields and we are continuing this course with a top team
“says the future area manager for Southeast and Eastern Europe, Daniel Reisenberger.
In the future, AI robots will be fed with BIM information
„Schindler RISE is a pioneer in elevator technology. Product innovations such as the Schindler RISE robot system and Schindler PORT, a transit management system for larger building complexes, make a significant contribution to energy efficiency. During the renovation of the red bed tower at the AKH, we showed what energy saving potential is possible with such retrofits. Energy consumption was reduced by 80 percent. Our Schindler RISE robot system has already been used in the TrIIIple project, which includes three high-rise buildings with 30 floors each. In the future, the robot in the elevator shaft will be fed with BIM information and work based on the digital model. This makes planning, construction, operation and later modernization of the system easier. The lift shaft was previously a blank spot in the BIM digital twin – we are currently changing that
“, says the managing director for Schindler Austria, Janine Schwabe-Häder.
Since 2018, Schindler has been relying on the artificial intelligence of robots in elevator shafts, thereby relieving the fitters of dangerous and health-damaging activities. Once installed, the robot completes its workload and significantly accelerates the completion of the systems.
Elevators and escalators are becoming green power plants
In addition to AI applications, the topic of energy efficiency and green energy supply is a central area of research and application at Schindler. „Energy-efficient products and digital maintenance during ongoing operations are another lever for CO2 reduction. Digital maintenance increases the availability of our systems by 30 percent. At the same time, journeys for service technicians are optimized and CO2 emissions are reduced. Sustainability starts with doing, and we have the technology for it
“, says Janine Schwabe-Häder.
The energy consumption of the Schindler systems has already been significantly reduced through energy recovery during downward travel, destination call control and lighter cabins. Since 2020, Schindler elevators and escalators have been able to feed energy back into the system as standard using recuperation. The higher the building and the more mass is moved, the better the effect. Schindler products already regularly generate electricity in highly frequented places such as Vienna Central Station.
Exciting but challenging dynamics in Eastern Europe
„I am looking forward to the new task and will be handing over to a strong team in Austria under the leadership of a committed, experienced manager. The dynamics in Eastern Europe are exciting; there is a significant backlog in the area of public infrastructure. At the same time, the recession and the changed interest rate policy are creating challenges. For me, it will also be about shaping the dynamics in these countries, driving forward digitalization and the field of green transformation. However, the necessary global trend towards sustainable construction, more quality and more density suits us as an elevator manufacturer
“, says Daniel Reisenberger in conclusion.
