As was known today, the coalition negotiations between FPÖ and ÖVP have now finally failed. The chairman of the SPÖ Vorarlberg, Mario Leiter, says in a brief statement:
“The end of the coalition negotiations between the FPÖ and ÖVP has already emerged in the past few days and hours and is not surprising. In the end, the medically held deletion around ministries and post left no doubt: these FPÖ-ÖVP government, which are brought about on bending and breaking, is not viable. The ÖVP has been publicly demonstrated by the FPÖ in the past few weeks and has only proven willpower at the last meters. Even if FPÖ party leader Kickl would have liked to see himself in the role of the state-supporting man, he and his party friends once again failed because of their uncompromising greed for power. For Austria, it is now quickly important to find a solution from this democratic misery. The hand of the SPÖ is still stretched out. We are ready to take responsibility. The credo must now be building bridges. For a stable government that leads Austria into the future and does not fall into chaos. ”
