On the anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on October 7th, the Austrian-Israeli Society (ÖIG) issued the following statement:
Vienna (OTS) – “Exactly two months ago today, Hamas invaded Israel, killing, torturing, raping and kidnapping. To this day, the massacre is put into perspective – not just in the Arab world.”
said the First President of the Austrian-Israeli Society (ÖIG), Peter Florianschütz MA, MLS.
Saturday, October 7, 2023: It is quiet in the kibbutzim and at the rave on the border with the Gaza Strip. A few hours later the country is different. Hamas terrorists break through the border fence, murder, rape, torture, kidnap and fire rockets at the Jewish state. More than 1,200 people died that day. An indescribable massacre that shocked the world and traumatized Israel.
Two months later, what happened that day is still being questioned, relativized and even described as fake news from various quarters around the world – and not just in the Arab world. The Austrian-Israeli Society (ÖIG) sent a clear signal with its statement. Peter Florianschütz: “The ÖIG stands in solidarity with Israel, especially in view of Hamas’s terror, we demand the immediate release of all hostages, we firmly reject the reversal of victims and perpetrators and welcome the clear stance of the Republic of Austria.”
The positioning of the Austrian-Israeli Society (ÖIG) is worded here to read.
“Hamas’ horrific atrocities are an attack on civilization and freedom. Taking people hostage is a crime against humanity.”
said Peter Florianschütz. Sustainable peace and security in the region is the only path to a politically and socially viable two-state solution. They are the guarantee for a democratic Israel and an equally democratic Palestinian state in which all people can live in security, freedom and dignity with prospects.
Florianschütz continued: “’Never again’ must not remain a rhetorical phrase. The last two months have shown once again that this promise must be fought for every day and every hour, in Israel but also worldwide.”
