With the Königswein, Gumpoldskirchen sets an enjoyable sign of quality, regionality and hospitality in the heart of the Vienna Wald. The characterful cuvée made of ornamental finder and Rotgipfler not only represents the wine -growing art of the thermal region, but is also increasingly acting as a figurehead in tourism.
“Wine and tourism are an unbeatable duo in Lower Austria. Not only does countless holidays and excursion guests come to us every year, but also Gumpoldskirchens Königswein, who combines the high quality of viticulture with the tourist attractiveness of the region. Many thanks for this initiative,” emphasizes Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
“Gumpoldskirchen is known far beyond the national borders for its excellent wines,” emphasizes Michael Wollinger, Managing Director of Wienerwald Tourismus and incumbent wine ambassador (born in 2024). “With the Königswein we have a jointly created top product that is represented at important events and has also established itself as a popular gift wine.”

Mayor Dagmar Dealer also emphasizes the special role of the wine: “The Königswein is much more than an excellent drop – he is a symbol of our identity, our craftsmanship and joie de vivre in the region.”
Children design label for limited special edition
An emotional highlight is the current special edition of the Königswein. The label was designed by elementary school children from the region as part of a painting competition – a sign of lived connection and creative promotion of young talent.
Tourism meets tradition
In addition to the Königswein, Gumpoldskirchen convinces with its idyllic location, the historical townscape, a wide network of hiking and bike paths as well as culinary diversity- from traditional this year to innovative hood kitchen.
With the royal wine as a charismatic brand ambassador, Gumpoldskirchen impressively shows how regional quality and tourist attractiveness can be experienced together.
