Ministry of Health provides 3.5 million euros for the needy population in Gaza and the region as well as in Ukraine and Moldova
Vienna (OTS) – “We know our support can save lives. I therefore expressly welcome today’s payment commitment from Health Minister Johannes Rauch to improve medical care in crisis areas. From Ukraine and Moldova to the Middle East, this help is urgently needed. With our contribution we support targeted measures on site for those in need. “This is an important sign of solidarity,” says the club chairwoman and member of the Green Party, Sigi Maurer.
The Ministry of Health’s payments to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) are intended to improve medical support where it is most urgently needed. 2.5 million euros will go towards emergency medical care in Gaza and the care of refugees in Lebanon and Jordan. Since October 7, 2023, Austria has already provided 32 million euros in humanitarian aid for the suffering population in Gaza and the region. In addition, 1 million euros are earmarked to improve the medical situation in Ukraine and Moldova.
