Die Initiative “Green Care – where people thrive” was 12 years ago by Robert FitzthumDirector of the Vienna Chamber of Agriculture, was launched in Austria. It enables farms to offer services such as looking after children and seniors on the farm, animal-assisted activities and jobs for people with disabilities and people with time out and relaxation in order to generate additional income and maintain the farm. The 125th company in Austria recently received Greencare certification.

The Union “WE for greencare – Where people thrive, agriculture has a future.” was founded to attract donors, sponsors and partners to financially support Green Care. The aim of the association is to make the diverse social services in agriculture known to a broad public, to promote Greencare-certified companies and thus to improve people’s quality of life.

Maria Hötschl emphasizes the importance of the partnership: “With the support of Stefan Jauk and Niederösterreichische Versicherung we can continue to advance our projects. This partnership is an important step for the future of agriculture, because without the offer of social services as additional income, many businesses would be at risk of survival.” In addition, society benefits from offers that are in short supply in many regions – such as care, senior care and childcare.
