Overjoyed bands and solo acts, fantastic atmosphere and top live sound at the ORF Vorarlberg Music Prize award ceremony
Vienna (OTS) – Full festival grounds, wonderful summer weather and a fantastic party feeling made the fifth “Sound@V” music award from ORF Vorarlberg an unforgettable experience. Spots on and sound off was the motto on Friday evening, July 5, 2024, when the award show took place at the “Poolbar Festival” in Feldkirch. Cordoba78, Gardens, Nnella, Pia Denz and “short-term” were the lucky musicians who won the coveted prizes. George Nussbaumer was honored for his life’s work. The “Sound@V” comes with prize money totaling 25,000 euros.
Distinguished prize winners
The band Cordoba78 won in the pop/rock category. The musicians were able to convince with their song “Roulette Tisch”. Gardens won in the alternative/singer-songwriter genre. With their first single “Waves” they had already made it into the FM4 annual charts last year. Nnella impressed in the Open Pool category with the song “Hin & Weg (Part 2)”. Newcomer of the year is Pia Denz. The Vorarlberg native, who lives in Vienna, sent her song “That You Care” into the race. In the dialect category, the band scored “for a short time” with their song “Shiedzi”.
Audience favorite and life’s work
Cordoba78 not only convinced the jury, but was also chosen as the audience’s favorite – the band received the most votes in the online voting on vorarlberg.ORF.at. George Nussbaumer received the award for his life’s work. The passionate musician has been at home on international concert stages for more than four decades and is a fixture in Vorarlberg’s music scene.
The jury and audience decided together
The decision to award the prizes was a result of the large audience voting at vorarlberg.ORF.at and the votes of the international expert jury. The “Sound@V” panel of experts included singer Julian le Play, Hannah and Laura Breitfuß from the Austrian band “Cousines like Shit”, FM4 presenter and journalist Riem Higazi and SRF3 presenter Céline Werdelis.
Big show with lots of music
At the award show, music fans were treated to a colorful mix of live music, exciting interviews, awards and band portraits. The music acts Fiesta Forever, Cordoba78, Julia Zischg, Gardens and Pia Denz could be experienced live. After the award show, the band “Cousines like Shit” heated things up again at the after-show party in the pool of the Old Hallenbad. The ORF Vorarlberg presenters Inés Mäser and Dominic Dapré hosted the show. ORF Radio Vorarlberg and vorarlberg.ORF.at broadcast live.
